The Cogitographes are imaginary mountains, created through a process of automatic drawing that is controlled only insofar as it allows her to achieve that symbolic form that V. E. Bossert associates with her roots and her earliest memories. By tracing what goes on in her head, stroke by stroke, she ends up capturing an image of time passing and memory slipping away.
